Владимиру Гоа от поклонников бамбука (ну и +1, разумеется ) Битрейт у альбома, правда, CBR 192, и продолжительность композиций Winamp странную какую-то показывает , но это мелочи, а альбом хорош. Спасибо!
Riley Lee was born in Texas in 1951 of a Chinese father and Caucasian mother. He lived in Japan for over eight years, beginning his shakuhachi studies there in 1971. From 1973 through 1977, he toured internationally as a fulltime performer of taiko (festival drums) and shakuhachi with Ondekoza (now called Kodo), a group of traditional Japanese musicians.
In 1980 he became the first non-Japanese to attain the rank of dai shihan (grand master) in the shakuhachi tradition. Riley Lee is a recipient of two of the most revered lineages of shakuhachi playing, descending from the original Zen Buddhist 'priests of nothingness' of Edo Japan. His first teachers were Hoshida Ichizan II and Chikuho Sakai II. His present teacher is Katsuya Yokoyama.
Riley completed his BA and MA degress at the University of Hawai'i, and his PhD degree in ethnomusicology (on the transmission of the Zen Buddhist repertoire of the shakuhachi) at the University of Sydney.
He has recorded nearly fourty recordings internationally, many featuring his own compositions. He is fortunate to make his living solely as a full-time professional shakuhachi player, teacher, and scholar. He and his family live on the eastern coast of the continent of Australia and in the islands of Hawai'i.
Riley was most recently seen internationally televised ushering in the new millennium on New Year's morning at dawn from the top of the majestic Sydney Opera House - quite an auspicious start for the next 1,000 years for shakuhachi enthusiasts worldwide.
Being 100% Japanese isn't mandatory if you're a shakuhachi player. The instrument was actually invented in China, and occasionally, some Americans have played it on the side of jazzman Bobby King, for example, is a hard bop/post-bop saxophonist who has played the shakuhachi as a secondary instrument. Nonetheless, Japan has dominated shakuhachi playing for centuries, and the instrument will always be closely identified with traditional Japanese musicówhich is what the Texas-born Riley Lee provides on Picture Dreams. Not many people who were born in Texas can honestly say that they play the shakuhachi as their main instrument, but Lee can and he plays it in a traditionally Japanese way throughout this fine CD. Some of Lee's other releases have demonstrated that he isn't a purist when it comes to Japanese music; a purist wouldn't combine the shakuhachi with Indian tabla drums or the Aboriginal didjeridoo (two non-Japanese instruments that have been heard on some of Riley's previous albumsóalthough he didn't play either of them himself). Picture Dreams, however, is traditionally Japanese (as opposed to multicultural) in its approach. This excellent disc finds Lee forming a duo with Satsuki Odamura, a female koto player who grew up in Japan but now lives in Australia (which is also Lee's adopted home). Although Lee has, at times, brought his shakuhachi to multicultural settings, Picture Dreams shouldn't scare away any Japanese purists; an album of instrumental shakuhachi/koto duets is exactly the sort of thing that one expects from traditional Japanese music. Lee and Odamura enjoy a strong rapport on all of the material, which is as tranquil as it is haunting. Picture Dreams gives world music enthusiasts yet another reason to applaud Lee's mastery of the shakuhachi.

Biography
New age multi-instrumentalist Riley Lee has become known for his polished musical compositions, and specifically for his talent of playing the shakuhachi flute. The shakuhachi, which is traditionally played by Japanese Buddhist monks, has propelled Riley into a prestigious role of being a dai shihan (grand master) of the shakuhachi. His musical work is breathtakingly meditative, soothing, and spiritual. His near-flawless approach has made a complex range of ethnic fusion absolutely stunning. He has released material since the early '80s and signed a deal with the worldbeat label Narada in 1999. Buddha's Dream appeared two years later and the same year New World Music issued the career retrospective Postcards from Bundanon. Lee then released Yoga Tranquiliy and Music for Zen Meditation, two sparse shakuhachi recordings designed to accentuate relaxation, yoga, and meditation. Picture Dreams, an album of duets with renowned koto player Satsuki Odamura, followed from Narada in April 2003.

Calm from the Centre"
